Since I was a child, I have felt most alive while working with my hands. The process of imagining, designing, and bringing a creation to fruition, has always fulfilled my heart with deep joy. However, the "voice of reason" in my head over the years meant that working with my hands, being an artist, pursuing a craft, and doing what I love, wasn't an appropriate career path for me. But after 40 years of life and several different career paths that have shaped me into who I am today, I have come full circle. Today I strive to use my gifts and talents in creating pieces that inspire, bring joy, and create connection.
Douglas-fir is also used to produce a wide variety of products including general millwork, flooring, furniture, cabinets and veneer. This species has excellent strength properties and is well known for its workability.
Commercially, white birch is used for lumber, veneer, plywood and pulpwood. Furniture, cabinets, flooring and other millwork items are made from birch lumber and veneers.
One of the most enjoyed American hardwoods for its fine-yet-open grain, unique patterns, and bold dark color. Walnut is easy to cut, shape and sand, and the wood takes on an amazing look with a clear finish.
